Crochet Pattern: Perplexing Net

This pattern is a formula. You can make your special project with any length and width you want. And you can make your item horizontally or vertically!

_

Starting chain depends on the direction you work and width of your project, but is a minimum of 16 stitches.
to add width, add multiples of 6 stitches onto the original 16 for the formula to work out properly.
[16, 22, 28...100... 154... 184... 202...ect]

Row 2: Single Crochet in first chain from hook. *Chain 2, Single Crochet in 3rd chain. Repeat from * to end of row. Turn.

Row 3: Chain 2. *Double Crochet in Space (the hole before the single crochet in previous row).
Double Crochet in space after the single crochet in previous row.

Chain 2. Single Crochet in both loops of the next single crochet of previous row. Chain 2. Repeat from * till end of row. Double crochet in last stitch.

Row 4-???: Chain 2. *Double Crochet in Space(the hole) before the single crochet in previous row. Double Crochet in space after the single crochet in previous row. Chain 2. single crochet in both loops of the first double crochet of the previous row. Chain 2. Repeat from * till end of row. Double crochet in last stitch.

Repeat row 4 until desired length. [this is a very stretchy pattern lengthwise, be careful you don't crochet it too long. But the width remains pretty much the same during use.]

END Row: Chain 2, Single Crochet in 3rd stitch (sc below). *Chain 2. Single Crochet in 3rd stitch (1st Double Crochet below). Chain 2. Single Crochet in 4th stitch. Repeat from * till end of row.

Guage really isn't that important. Try out a test piece [of at least 16sts] to create your own guage.

For my blanket, i used a K hook, 184sts was about 37" wide.
For my scarf, i used an H hook, 22sts was about 5" wide.
(both of these are using Red Heart Super Saver yarn. [medium 4])

But i could see doing a blanket with an H hook. Just try them out and see what size you'd prefer. I don't recommend any particular yarn, so the thickness of that changes how it looks too. This is just a guide. :)
